Thanks to the anti-tracking groupies for language arts, my middle schooler would like to skip the part of his school day that is in slow motion. I understand why I also hired a person to write my thesis for me. Middle schooler's teacher says she wants to engage him and provide him with challenging material yet she has no clue how to differentiate for these kids. And he is very self-conscious about not wanting to appear smarter than the rest of the kids in his class. This is a kid that would shine in a class of his academic peers yet there are no solid options for him. If it wasn't against the law, I'd pull him out of school for half a day and apprentice him to a carpenter or electrician where he would get some marketable skills and not have to sit in a classroom that moves like a snail.
