Aggression and Psychoanalysis: Reflections
Abstract
The author traces the history of his encounter, engagement and understanding
of the place of aggression in psychoanalytic theory and practice beginning
with his formative period when ego psychology and classical conflict
theory were dominant, through the introduction of self psychology and his
subsequent engagement with the widening, international world of psychoanalytic
thinking, including Kleinian, neo-Kleinian, Bionian, post-Bionian,
and contemporary French psychoanalytic trends.
