Infant Observation: Looking to See
Abstract
Michel Grignon was the first person I saw at the institute. He was the porteparole, the one who, in the words of Aulagnier (2001), voiced us and whoseimprint we needed to metabolize our "not knowing." There we were, allseven of us, all pretty bewildered, gathered that Friday in late August, fouryears ago. I am so glad that the baby seminar was the first seminar: a safeplace to come to every week amidst the rest of the chaos and discord thatimpinged on our training throughout that first year. Without the babyseminar my training at this institute would have been quite different andpoorer indeed for it. In this seminar someone was waiting for us, we wereexpected, a course pack with readings was prepared: all was well.
