La Place de l’interprétation chez Ferenczi

José Jiménez Avello

Though Ferenczi did not intend to displace the centrality that Freud accorded to interpretation, as the essential tool of psychoanalysis, his work evolved in this direction, as evidenced at two moments in their respective writings. The first arises in Freud’s technical contributions on repetition and working through, which Ferenczi and Rank took up in 1924. The second concernsthe increasing importance for Ferenczi, during the period 1928–1932, of the concept of “reproduction,” which can be compared to Freud’s emphasis on “constructions in psychoanalysis” (1937).
